Invoking this command from the DRAW menu, or clicking the command button whose icon you see depicted on this card, draws a vertical or horizontal line, 3 pixels thick, and creates a transparent button in the left margin which will, when clicked, recreate that same line.
When you invoke this command from the menu, you will be prompted to click at the two points where you want the line to begin and end. Leave a bit of a pause between clicks, to allow the Mac to catch up. It's working hard behind the scenes at this point. When you use the command button instead oif the menu, you will not be prompted, but you still need to click twice to set the endpoints.
The transparent button associated with the line that is drawn will be created in the lower half of the left margin just to the left of the slide frame.
When the slide is reset (or when you invoke the ERASE RECENT or ERASE ALL GRAPHICS command) this line will disappear. But when the button is clicked, the line will be automatically redrawn. This feature is useful for situations in which you would like to emphasize some text in a transparent field by underlining it before the audience's eyes; or would like to strike though some text; or would like to emphasize a list, or part of a list, by "sidelining" itΓÇöi.e. drawing a line alongside it.
All buttons created in connection with drawing lines or arrows will appear in the same place, so if you do more than one line or arrow on the same slide, you should move each button to its own handy location as it is created, so they don't get mixed up. The icon that appears during chaining, to show where these drawing buttons are created, should be left where it is. Only the transparent buttons overlaying it should be moved.
Lines drawn using this command (and lines or arrows drawn using any of the other five line and arrow commands) will be automatically erased from the slide when the slide is reset. If you do not want this to happen, you can use the PROTECT VISIBLE command to protect them from being erased. It will still be possible to erase them using the ERASE ALL GRAPHICS command, but not using the ERASE RECENT command.
